Lahaina Harbor Has Reopened for 2026

Great news for both Maui locals and visitors— Lahaina Harbor has officially reopened (in a limited capacity for now,) bringing back some of the island’s most popular boat tours to West Maui.

After being closed following the 2023 Lahaina wildfires, the harbor’s reopening marks an important step in West Maui’s recovery and allows select tour operators to resume departures directly from Lahaina Harbor.

What This Means for Maui Tours

With limited commercial operations now underway, guests can once again enjoy whale watching (seasonal), snorkeling, sailing, and sightseeing tours departing from Lahaina Harbor. Daytime operations are currently available, with more tours expected to return as harbor infrastructure continues to improve.

For visitors, this means:

  • Easier access to West Maui boat tours
  • Shorter drive times compared to Ma’alaea harbor
  • Supporting local businesses rebuilding after the fires

Operations are limited to daylight hours (8 a.m.–6 p.m.) and focused on loading and unloading passengers at designated dock areas rather than full harbor services.  Parking is being carefully managed, and safety remains a priority.  Areas like the historic Banyan Tree Park and other sites damaged in the fire are not yet open.

We’ll continue to update our tour offerings as more operators return to the harbor. Contact our Maui Locals Guide concierge team for personalized recommendations on the best Lahaina Harbor tours during your stay on Maui.

🌺 Mahalo for supporting West Maui.
